Building

The school has a semi-open plan design with eight teaching areas including 2 mobile classrooms, and a large school hall. Other areas are also utilized to teach smaller groups of pupils. Our school hall is used for assemblies, as a dining area and for indoor P.E. lessons. Our school meals are prepared in our own kitchen.

On going improvements include establishing an outdoor ‘collaboration corner’ funded by Awards For All, canopy to Key Stage 1 outdoor area, new perimeter fencing , front of school reception updates and disabled toilet and changing provision. We are currently developing our ‘reflection garden’ (with support from local partners) and in the summer of 2021 are having all of the pupil toilets refurbished.

Grounds

We are very lucky to have extensive grassed areas surrounding the school and two playgrounds. Our wildlife area with pond and learning area, outdoor stage and seating, quiet area with raised beds and bird tables, and adventure trail are extremely well used and enhance both learning and playtimes. We are looking to expand our Forest Schools area for outdoor learning , den building and animal husbandry.

Security

Our children and staff are kept safe in a number of ways:

  • When entering the building all visitors are asked to sign in to the electronic visitor’s system and wear a printed visitor badge.
  • All external doors are fitted with security devices
  • Every adult who comes into school on a regular basis and who works unsupervised with our pupils is DBS checked
  • A CCTV camera system records activity in key areas around the school.
